2023 Calendar Photo Contest

2023 MASC calendar contest

Living the Dream

For the first time ever, we're giving MASC clients the opportunity to have their images featured in our 2023 calendar! If we select your photo for next year's calendar, you'll win a prize package (valued at $50).

The theme of the 2023 calendar is "Living the Dream". This is your chance to show us what life is like on your farm. Send us your photos of seeding, unloading/loading grain, chasing cattle, baling, pastured livestock, prairie landscape/pastures, harvesting, livestock in a barn/shelter/corral, spraying, maintaining/servicing equipment, haying, swathing, country roads, picking fruit at fruit/veggie farms, crops, crop scouting, and so on!

Photo Submission

Submitting Photos

  • Email photos to  info@masc.mb.ca.
  • Send the photos as attachments (i.e. do not embed the photo in the body of the email).
  • Include your name and address, and specify the location of each photograph.
  • Get your photos in by September 30!

Submission Checklist

  • Photos must be high resolution (1 MB or higher). When you attach the photo in the email, it will indicate the size of the image (1000 KB = 1 MB).
  • Photos should be original, unaltered (i.e. not cropped, photoshopped, or scanned).
  • Please indicate the general area (community or rural municipality) within Manitoba where the photo was taken.
  • A completed release form PDF is required for your photos to be considered. If there are people in the photo, we will need a release form for each person.
  • We’re only accepting six images per entry.

Photography Tips for Success

  • Submit horizontal photos (portrait images are rarely used).
  • Only high resolution photos of optimum quality will be considered. Shoot with a good quality camera or newer smart phone/tablet.
  • Have a steady hand, make sure the photo is in focus, level, and well-framed.
  • Get as close to the subject/object as possible, rather than using the zoom function (especially for smart phone/tablet images).
  • If you are driving, pull over (safety first) and roll the window down get out of the vehicle before taking the shot. This prevents glare and motion blur.
  • Keep an eye on the background. Move to a better spot to avoid having hydro poles, vehicles that aren’t meant to be there, etc. Unless the road is an important aspect of the image, walk into the ditch or go to the edge of the field to take the shot (if it’s safe to do so and you’re not trespassing).
  • If crops are in the picture, they should be crops that MASC insures.
  • Please keep farm safety in mind.
