Instructions
The Land Parcel Information search tool is a quick way to access the public information that MASC uses to determine insurance rates and coverages, including insurance eligibility, growing areas, soil classes, and more.
The agricultural land of Manitoba is measured by two different survey systems - the 'quarter-section-township-range' Dominion Land Survey system, which encompasses most of the province, and the River Lot / Parish Lot survey system (based on the older Seigneurial System of New France).
Searching by Square Section
To search for square sections of land (that falls under the Dominion Land Survey):
- Click the drop-down boxes to input the information you wish to search for. At minimum, you must select the Township, Range, and Meridian. To narrow your search, you may also select the Quarter (e.g. NW) and Section.
-
- Click the 'Search' button to begin your search.
Searching by River / Parish Lot
To search for river or parish land lots:
- Click the drop-down boxes to input the information to search for. At minimum, you must select the Municipality (e.g. Portage la Prairie), the Portion number, and the Parish number. To narrow your search, you may also include the Lot Type.
-
Note: You must first select the Municipality, the Portion number, and the Parish number in specific order.
- Click the 'Search' button to begin your search.
To clear a previous search, click the 'Reset All' button to return the drop-down boxes to their default values.
Interpreting the Search Results
Once your search is complete, a table will appear below the 'Search' button that contains all the land parcel records that match your search. Each row designates a unique land parcel (categorized by the first column, 'Legal Description'), and each column with a row indicates specific information (e.g. Canola Area) about the land parcel. Where applicable, you can click the '(map)' links in the grey column headers to view specific province-level maps.
Results Column Descriptions:
- Legal Description: displays the legal description of a land parcel. Click the link to open a Google Maps view of the parcel's approximate location. To quit the Google Maps view and return to the Search page, click the 'Close' button or click outside the map boundary.
