Young Farmer Rebate (YFR)

Young farmers are integral to building a strong rural Manitoba, but often they are considered high risk by private lending institutions. MASC is committed to their success.

The Young Farmer Rebate (YFR) assists young, beginning, and expanding farmers with limited equity to develop, expand, or reorganize their farming operations.

The Young Farmer Rebate can also assists with intergenerational transfers.

Program Features

The Young Farmer Rebate is a {program_details::max_rebate}% rebate on the first ${program_details::max_principal} of principal for each of the first five years of the loan. The lifetime maximum per individual is ${program_details::max_lifetime}, with any unused portion applicable to subsequent loans.

Eligibility

Eligible Applicants

Qualifying young farmers must be 18-39 years of age who are Manitoba residents and personally operate the farm to which the loan applies. The Young Farmer Rebate is applicable on loans with terms of five years or more. The rebate is not available on Environmental Enhancement Loans, Alternate Energy Loans, or Comprehensive Refinancing Loans.

Partnerships, corporations, or cooperative farming operations are eligible for one rebate, where at least one partner or shareholder would be eligible if they applied as an individual for a loan. The maximum rebate to a partnership, corporation or cooperative is the same as for an individual borrower.
